RIP Edgah Stiles: Eulogies Welcome

Anonymous notyourmomula said...

Oh Edgah, we hardly knew ye. I barely have words, so I reach out to convey my grief:

"A man should not leave this earth with unfinished business. He should live each day as if it was a pre-flight check. He should ask each morning, am I prepared to lift-off?"
Diane Frolov and Andrew Schneider, Northern Exposure, All is Vanity, 1991

"Pale Death with impartial tread beats at the poor man's cottage door and at the palaces of kings" [and at CTU].
Horace (65 BC - 8 BC), Odes

"A single death is a tragedy; a million deaths [or the VP's revised count: 400,000] is a statistic."
Joseph Stalin (1879 - 1953)

And finally, for Jack and Chloe:

"The dead cannot cry out for justice; it is a duty of the living to do so for them."
Lois McMaster Bujold, Diplomatic Immunity, 2002

Dear Edgah,

I'm sorry we always called you fat. I'm sorry Jon ripped on you twice in real time before you died. I'm sorry that my initial shock at your death was quickly followed by a "Ghost Dad" joke about you, and I'm sorry that the closest you ever came to Cloe was when you photoshopped her face onto the body of porn you found on the internet. Although it was probably really good porn, since you were a computer wizard. And also probably wizard in dungeons and dragons. I miss you already.
